What the leaders said

The chief guest of the program, the organization's state secretary and divisional president Manoj Gupta, said that large companies are destroying the existence of small and medium traders by operating on low profit margins. According to him, if this is not curbed soon, the vibrancy of traditional markets will come to an end.

District President Sanjeev Porwal raised the issue of the problems being faced by traders due to GST raids. City President Somesh Gupta emphasized buying from local shops to save businesses. Rural Assembly President Rajkumar Yadav, Virendra Yadav, Munawwar Pathan, Ilyas Siddiqui, and Manish Bhardwaj, among other office-bearers, were also present at the event.

Campaign in several districts

This trade organization affiliated with the Samajwadi Party also held awareness foot marches against online shopping in some other districts of the state on Wednesday, including Kanpur, Mahoba, Mirzapur, and Varanasi. In these, too, traders appealed for shopping from local markets.

The other side

No response has been received from e-commerce companies or the administration regarding this protest so far. These allegations and claims by the traders belong to the organization's leaders and could not be independently verified.
