Aligarh: National Lok Adalat to be held from district court to tehsil level on 12 December; cases ranging from cheque bounce to motor accident compensation will be settled

A National Lok Adalat will be organized in Aligarh on 12 December. In this Lok Adalat, which will be held from the district court to the tehsil level, pending cases will be settled on the basis of mutual compromise. Its objective is to reduce the burden of pending cases and provide speedy justice to litigants. Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Sakshi Garg, provided this information.

Which cases will be settled

According to Sakshi Garg, compoundable criminal cases, cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act related to cheque bounce, money recovery, motor accident compensation, labor disputes, and cases related to electricity and water tax will be settled in the Lok Adalat. Apart from this, family and matrimonial disputes, land acquisition, service-related matters, and other civil cases will also be placed before the Lok Adalat.

The secretary has directed all courts, offices, and departmental officials to identify as many cases as possible.

How to avail the benefits

Decisions based on mutual consent in the Lok Adalat are considered final, and generally, there is no provision for an appeal against them. Litigants who wish to have their cases placed before the Lok Adalat can contact the concerned court or the District Legal Services Authority.

The last one of this year

According to reports from other districts, this Lok Adalat on 12 December is the fourth and final National Lok Adalat of this year. Prior to this, a National Lok Adalat was held in Aligarh from the district court to the tehsil level in September as well.
