What Shah said

Rahul Gandhi had issued a video on Wednesday challenging Prime Minister Modi to a public debate on any platform. In response, Shah said that if Rahul Gandhi is serious about a debate, he should come to Parliament and discuss issues like SIR. According to Shah, Parliament is the most important platform for discussion in a democracy. He accused the Congress of not allowing parliamentary proceedings to function and spreading anarchy.

Shah said that SIR did not take place during the Lok Sabha elections of 2014, 2019 and 2024, yet the Congress faced defeat. According to him, SIR did not take place during the Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections either. He said that now the Congress is claiming that one crore votes have been deleted. Questioning the Congress's performance, Shah claimed that the number of party MLAs has consistently declined under Rahul Gandhi's leadership.

Example of Kabaddi

To explain his point, Shah narrated an anecdote from a childhood Kabaddi match, in which a team from a higher grade that was losing continuously decided to label the referee a "cheater." Shah presented this as a comment on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress's stance.

BJP's campaign

The BJP's "Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy" campaign is being conducted in two phases. According to the party, its first phase concluded on Thursday and the second phase will run from 11 November to 30 November. The BJP says its objective is to make people aware of SIR, the accuracy of electoral rolls, and constitutional processes. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also participated in the Karnal march.

The other side

The Congress and opposition parties have been raising questions over alleged irregularities in the SIR. No response from the Congress or Rahul Gandhi has been received yet regarding this statement by Shah.
