What is structure gauge movement

According to UPMRC Joint General Manager Panchanan Mishra, this process is used in newly constructed metro structures to observe whether the train and necessary equipment can pass safely according to set standards. Generally, in metro projects, this check is considered necessary before running a train to ensure that structures, platforms, sheds, and other constructions around the tracks do not collide with the train's designated clearance envelope. Details regarding which equipment and method are being used for this check in Agra have not yet been disclosed.

Currently, this work has begun on the depot line of Corridor-2. Information regarding when a similar check will be conducted on the main line before trials, and what the date of the trial will be, is not available.

What is Corridor-2

Agra Metro's Corridor-2 is a proposed elevated route from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar. According to the plan previously released by UPMRC, it is approximately 15 kilometers long and 14 stations are to be built on it. This route passes through MG Road towards the highway, and a bridge is also being constructed over the Yamuna River. This corridor will connect to the first corridor at Agra College station, where there is a plan to provide interchange facilities to passengers. The construction timeline has changed from time to time, so the operational date has not been announced yet.

What will the city residents get

Once the metro service begins, the people of Agra will get an option for fast and convenient public transport amidst heavy road traffic. According to UPMRC, this will also provide the facility of safe and environment-friendly travel.

What next

After this check on the depot line is completed, preparations for the trials will move forward. An announcement from UPMRC regarding the further process and the date of the trial is awaited.
