Claim of meeting company standards in tests

According to the company, four firms participated in the technical trials held in March 2025. Among them, only SDAL met all operational standards. The company states that the system's accuracy was tested based on its ability to hit targets during several live trials.

What are the features of Nagastra-1R

According to the company, the Nagastra-1R has been designed according to the specific needs of the Army. It can be used for kamikaze attacks in short-range operations, meaning an attack where the munition destroys itself upon impact with the target. It also includes an option to abort the mission mid-way and recover the drone safely.

Background of Nagastra-1

The indigenous loitering munition Nagastra-1 has been designed and developed by Economic Explosives Limited (EEL), a subsidiary of Solar Industries Nagpur, with the help of Bengaluru-based company Z-Motion. The company claims that it contains more than 75 percent indigenous content.

Future plans

The company is now focusing on expanding the deployment of its loitering munition systems and increasing long-term cooperation with the Indian Armed Forces.

In the context of ongoing conflicts between Iran, the US, and Israel, this indigenous system is being described as a low-cost option with precision strike capability. Drone technology has played a crucial role in recent conflicts, especially in cases involving Armenia-Azerbaijan, Syria, Saudi Arabian oil fields, and the Russia-Ukraine war.
